The Tasmanian Palliative Care Community Charter sets out a shared vision for compassionate, high-quality palliative and end-of-life care for all Tasmanians.
- It represents a commitment between Tasmania’s health and social care systems and the community they serve.
- It upholds the right of every individual to receive the best possible care, delivered with compassion, respect, and understanding.
- It promotes teamwork, shared responsibility, and access to timely and relevant information.
The Charter was developed through extensive consultations across Tasmania with community members, Aboriginal Elders, and people from a wide range of cultural and social backgrounds. Their voices shaped the Charter, outlining what Tasmanians want and expect from palliative care.
Guided by a Compassionate Communities approach, the Charter recognises that palliative care is everyone’s business.
At the end of life, it’s vital that people, their carers, and those important to them have access to the services and support they need.
The Charter’s principles reflect what matters most to Tasmanians and demonstrate our collective commitment to advocating for compassionate, high-quality palliative care for everyone.
