Palliative Care Tasmania (PCT) plays a key role in ensuring the voices of people with lived experience, families, carers, clinicians and service providers are represented in health policy and system reform.
As Tasmania’s peak body for palliative care, PCT actively contributes to policy development at both state and national levels. Through consultation, collaboration and advocacy, we work to strengthen the visibility of palliative care within broader health, ageing and community policy discussions.
During the reporting period, PCT participated in a wide range of consultations and advisory processes, ensuring that the Tasmanian community’s perspectives were represented in key reform initiatives. These included:
- 20-Year Preventive Health Strategy Consultation
- Palliative Care in After-hours Primary Care Consultation
- A New Tasmanian Cancer Plan Consultation
- Centre for Social Economy Consultation
- Tasmanian Audit Office – Department of Health Funding Arrangements Focus Group
- St John’s Park Development Focus Group
- Health Literacy Action Plan 2019–2024 Review
- Palliative Care Peaks Collective Data Consultation
- Primary Health Networks National Stakeholder Consultation
- National Palliative Care Projects and End-of-Life Directions for Aged Care Evaluation
- National Palliative Paramedicine Focus Group
- National Evaluation of the CPCiAC Measure
Through this work, PCT strengthened the visibility of palliative care in public policy and ensured Tasmania’s insights and experience continue to inform national reform.Text here
