Maya Wilkinson
Sector and Community Engagement Coordinator
Maya joins Palliative Care Tasmania with a background in midwifery and public health, bringing over a decade of experience in clinical care, health education, stakeholder engagement, and program coordination. She holds a Master of Public Health and is passionate about health equity and trauma-informed practice.
Maya has extensive peak body experience through volunteer and paid roles with the Australian College of Midwives, and is keen to bring these skills in connection, advocacy, education, and prioritisation- to amplify the voices of those experiencing and working in palliative care. She also has experience working within the Tasmanian Health Service, and with the union representing Tasmanian nurses and aged care workers.
Born and bred in lutruwita/Tasmania, Maya understands the importance of community connections and is committed to supporting Tasmanians to live and die well, and to be treated with respect and compassion at end-of-life. She is raising her young children in nipaluna/Hobart.
