Palliative Care Tasmania welcomes new CEO, Heather Kent

Palliative Care Tasmania (PCT) is pleased to announce the appointment of Heather Kent as its new Chief Executive Officer, commencing today, 08 December 2025.

Heather joins PCT with more than 30 years of experience in senior leadership roles across Tasmania’s health, community and research sectors. Her career includes guiding organisations such as the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (Tasmanian Faculty), the MS Society of Tasmania, and the RHH Research Foundation. Across all her roles, Heather has been recognised as a values-driven leader who places dignity, compassion, respect and integrity at the heart of her work. She has a strong record of supporting Boards through strategic planning, strengthening organisational sustainability, and leading teams through periods of growth and change.

Collaboration has been a hallmark of Heather’s career. She is deeply committed to building strong partnerships and working with stakeholders across sectors to improve the systems that support Tasmanians, especially at times of serious illness, grief, loss and end of life. Her evidence-informed approach and passion for community engagement align strongly with PCT’s mission to improve palliative care awareness, access and support state-wide.

Heather shared that she is “inspired to build on the strong foundations of Palliative Care Tasmania and contribute to a future where every Tasmanian feels supported, informed and connected when facing end-of-life matters.”

Palliative Care Tasmania is delighted to have Heather step into this role and looks forward to the leadership, experience and heart she brings to Palliative Care Tasmania
