Palliative Care Tasmania Leadership Transition

Palliative Care Tasmania (PCT) today announces the departure of its Chief Executive Officer, Venéy Hiller, after five years with the organisation.

Venéy has advised the Board of her decision to step down, with plans in place for a smooth leadership transition. She will remain involved in a consulting capacity to support the organisation and incoming leadership.

Chair of the Board, Sally Faulkner, acknowledged Veney’s significant contribution during her tenure.

“Venéy has been a driving force behind PCT’s growth into a respected, strategic and influential organisation. Her leadership has secured millions in funding, expanded our networks, and helped shape national policy and discourse on palliative care. The Board is incredibly grateful for her dedication, integrity and passion. We are also pleased that she will continue to support us through this next phase.”

Under Veney’s leadership, PCT has evolved into a trusted peak body, delivering advocacy, education, campaigns and support to the palliative care sector and broader community.

Reflecting on her decision, Venéy said the time was right for a new chapter, both for her and for the organisation.

“This role has been both personally and professionally transformative, and it has been an absolute honour to serve as CEO. I am incredibly proud of the work we’ve done and the impact we’ve had, but it is the right time for me personally, and for the organisation for transition. I am deeply grateful for the support of my brilliant team, our dedicated Board, our members and the many people who have championed this important work alongside us. I will always remain a proud ally and supporter of PCT.”

Our team will continue to deliver all funded activities, maintain sector leadership, and serve the community with professionalism and compassion supporting those living with a life-limiting illness, their families, and the professionals who care for them.
