Join the Board of Palliative Care Tasmania

Palliative Care Tasmania is the peak body committed to achieving quality palliative care and end of life care for all Tasmanians. The organisation connects the sector and advocates on behalf of specialist, generalist and community-supported palliative care in Tasmania. PCT aims to work collaboratively with others to help ensure that all Tasmanians have access to timely care and support based on their individual needs and wishes.

Several opportunities are now available for experienced Directors to join PCT’s progressive Board, leading the organisation’s work in responding to sector and community needs through its representative role.

As a volunteer Director, you will work with a skills-based Board which governs a small team by actively:

  • Contributing to the organisation’s long-term strategy, ensuring strong governance and sound decision making;
  • Providing informed and independent oversight across financial performance, risk and operational outcomes;
  • Maintaining a strong understanding of the sector, community, funders and other key stakeholders; and
  • Demonstrating high levels of integrity and good judgement, showing a depth of emotional intelligence balanced with a capacity for critical thinking.

PCT is open to receiving expressions of interest from suitable candidates who bring experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Clinical experience in an aged care environment, with a background in palliative care;
  • Palliative care personal experience (including as a family member and/or carer);
  • Experience in undertaking research, gathering and analysing data to build reliable evidence; and
  • Marketing and fundraising, including a contemporary and practical understanding of philanthropy.

We value diversity and inclusion across a range of dimensions and wish to ensure that our Board effectively represents people living across Tasmania. Interstate candidates are welcome, but must be familiar with the local context. AICD graduates will be highly regarded.

An information pack to guide expressions of interest is available via ceo@pct.org.au, or for further information, contact Heather Kent on (03) 6231 2799.

All applications must include a covering letter of no more than two pages outlining why you wish to join the Board of PCT and addressing how your skills and experience match the opportunities available. A copy of your current CV should also be submitted.

Applications close at 5.00pm on Wed 22 July 2026
