Complimentary GP Education Sessions
As the peak body for palliative care in the state, Palliative Care Tasmania (PCT) provides complimentary one-hour education sessions to general practitioners which focuses on palliative care, services available in Tasmania, understanding of the Guardianship Administration Board (GAB – legalities of end of life planning) and what palliative care resources are available to GPs and their patients.
The overarching goals for this education are:
- Increased GP awareness of palliative care services within Tasmania and how best to support their palliative patients to live in their communities.
- Increased awareness for GP’s and community members of GAB, including its authority and process in appointing guardians or administrators to make important decisions affecting the lives and property of people who are unable to do so due to disability or illness.
- Improved access to resources pertaining to the GAB and palliative care services in Tasmania.
These one-hour education sessions have so far been held in many clinics around the state with the feedback from GPs and those attending being overwhelmingly positive. These sessions are delivered by our experienced educators in the GP clinics at a time that suits both the GPs and staff.
To take advantage of this complimentary training, please contact Palliative Care Tasmania on admin@pct.org.au or (03) 6231 2799.
