


Aged Care Provider Education
The Australian Government’s Greater Choice for at Home Palliative Care measure (GCfAHPC) has been extended to June 2025. With the continuation of funding, Primary Health Tasmania are committed to providing education and support to the aged care sector through a collaboration with Palliative Care Tasmania so that aged care providers can access education for free (until 30 June 2023)
Aged Care Palliative Care training includes a range of topics to accommodate various learning needs of staff, families, residents/ clients and volunteers

- Palliative Care
- Advance Care Planning / Directives – new legislation
- Recognizing Dying and Symptom Support (non-clinical)
- Grief, Loss & Bereavement
- Self-care
- Dementia & Palliative Care
- Life Limiting Illness in the workplace
We understand the multitude of challenges faced by the aged care industry so we’re offering flexibility with learning:
- Sessions can be face to face or online
- Times to suit staff and the workflow of the organisation
- Most sessions are 1 hour duration but a series of shorter “toolbox” sessions can be accommodated on site if preferable
- Longer sessions available (90 min – 2 hours) in the form of workshops
- Topics could be delivered as a series of learning sessions for staff (e.g. same time each fortnight or month)
- Recorded sessions (available for a limited time) can be accompanied with a questionnaire to assess competence
- Online sessions can be followed up with a live Q&A session for participant discussion
- A certificate of completion will be forwarded to attendees following sessions (for CPD hours)
